In Loving Memory of Vinson “Hubb” Hubbard /December 30, 1943 – August 10, 2026
Vinson “Hubb” Hubbard was born on December 30, 1943, to Gertrude Gabriel and Eddie Hubbard, and was blessed with a loving stepmother, Mary Hubbard. Vinson, who was a proud Central Bearcat, had a passion for music and went on to pursue a singing career with The Web's. The Web's recorded multiple records through various record labels and traveled extensively, sharing their music around the world. Vinson’s love for music and his God-given talent allowed him to touch many lives throughout his journey.
Later in life, Vinson began a long and dedicated career with Southern Union Gas Company, where he worked faithfully for more than 29 years until his retirement. During his years there, he became affectionately known as “The Gas Man.” Vinson also worked at Moody Gardens, continuing his commitment to hard work and service.
Vinson leaves to cherish his memory, Vinson Hubbard Jr.; Velicia Burns (Clifford); Kim Hubbard (Francis); Wilson Campbell; Tina Franks Sanchez (Juan); Freelander Little; and nephew, Phillip Harris. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, who will continue to carry his memory and legacy. He is also survived by his brothers, Charles O’Neal (Carolyn) and Curly Hubbard; his sister, Sherrell Gabriel (Ray); The Boxley family and The McCain family; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends and loved ones.
Vinson was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude Gabriel and Eddie Hubbard; his stepmother, Mary Hubbard; his brothers, Isaac O’Neal and Talton Gabriel; and his sisters, Shirley Ann Gabriel and Mary Ann Mathis.
Vinson “Hubb” was a man whose life was marked by music, hard work, family, friendship, and countless memories. From his days as a Central Bearcat, to traveling the world with The Web's, to faithfully serving more than 29 years with Southern Union Gas Company, he made an impact wherever his journey took him.
Though he has completed his earthly journey, the legacy of “Hubb” will continue through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. Rest well, Vinson “Hubb” Hubbard. Your song has been sung, your work is finished, and your memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved you.
