Thomas Collins Gabriel, affectionately known as Blinky, was called home to be with the Lord on January 6, 2026, at 5:40 a.m. in Baytown, Texas. Thomas was born to Frankie William and Josephine Gabriel in the beautiful village of Anse La Raye, St. Lucia. He was the second-born child and attended primary school, where he excelled in all subjects, especially English. Raised in the Catholic faith, Thomas faithfully attended church with his parents and siblings. During part of his childhood, he lived with his beloved grandmother, Estelle, whom he lovingly cared for. After her passing, he returned to live with his parents. Thomas was a caring, passionate, determined, and kind man. He was well known throughout his village for assisting neighbors with any task—big or small—always willing to lend a helping hand. At the age of 20, Thomas began working at a sugar cane factory on the island of St. Lucia, where his dedication and strong work ethic stood out. His supervisor later offered him an opportunity to work on the island of St. Kitts, including room and board, as a laborer in the sugar cane factory. Thomas accepted and resided in St. Peter’s Parish, St. Kitts. While working in the cane fields, Thomas once assisted a colleague, Thedosia, who was struggling to complete her work. Touched by his kindness, she invited him to her home for dinner. It was there that Thomas met her daughter, Emily. Their relationship blossomed, and they later married, building a beautiful family together. They were blessed with three Amazing children: Doreen (U.S. Navy SEAL), Josephine (Educator)), and Thomas Jr. (Nurse). Thomas and Emily later migrated to St. Croix, where his career as a welder emerged. His skill and craftsmanship opened doors to work under contract with well-known corporations, including Hess in St. Croix, ExxonMobil in Texas, and Flo Construction Corporation in Louisiana. Throughout his career, Thomas received recognition and awards for his dedication, excellence, and outstanding achievements. Thomas will always be remembered for his humble and outgoing personality. Though soft-spoken, he was a keen observer of his surroundings. Known as a true “saga boy,” Thomas took pride in his appearance and was always impeccably dressed in elegant and distinguished attire. Thomas leaves to cherish his loving memory his daughter, Josephine Gabriel-Kelly; his son, Thomas C. Gabriel Jr.; brothers Roger William, Eluide William, John William, Cajatan William, Francis William; sisters Paulina Joseph and Julina William; sister-in-law Annette William; cherished grandchildren Steven Gabriel, Emily Kelly, Rachel Kelly, Sarah Kelly, Jabari Gabriel, Nailah Gabriel, Sanayah Gabriel, and Zendayah Gabriel; adored great-grandchildren Madison Kelly, Mason Kelly, Ashkelon Procope, Corey Eaton, Phoenix Kelly; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and dear friends. Thomas Collins Gabriel lived a life marked by faith, service, humility, and unwavering love for family and community. His legacy is written not only in his accomplishments but in the lives he touched through kindness, hard work, and quiet strength. Though he will be deeply missed, we rejoice knowing that he has heard the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” His memory will forever remain in our hearts.
