Stewart Reed

December 19, 1976 — October 23, 2025

Stewart Reed, 48, passed away on October 23, 2025 surrounded by his loving family and many of his closest friends, who gathered at his home to lift him and his family up in prayer. Stewart was born on December 19, 1976, in Ada, Oklahoma to his loving parents, Brenda Joyce (Mowdy) Reed and Logan Darold Reed. His devoted mother described Stewart as an independent and precious son who stayed busy fishing and hunting as a young boy and loved family gatherings.

Stewart was immensely proud of his Oklahoma roots. He grew up on a cattle ranch – a lifestyle that shaped him in every aspect of his life. He had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and a natural curiosity about how things worked. Every day, he rose early, driven by an unparalleled work ethic. Whether at home, in the office, or tending to his backyard garden, Stewart always took pride in doing things efficiently – and, even more admirable, precisely.

When Stewart wasn’t on the ranch – riding horses, herding cattle, roping, or learning about Jesus’ love in Grandma Bessie Reed’s Garden, he could be found playing sports with friends, riding four-wheelers or doing any outdoor adventure. He excelled in everything he tried. Stewart graduated from Coalgate High School, Class of 1995, where he was known as the star quarterback, a key player on the basketball court, and both a pitcher and second baseman for the baseball team. His leadership skills extended beyond athletics; he was also at the top of his class in academics and actively involved in FFA. Stewart found success in whatever he put his mind to, but he was never boastful. He was the humble hero to all who knew him.

Stewart’s love for baseball continued into college, where he played at Redlands Community College in El Reno, Oklahoma, while also participating in the Livestock Judging Team. He earned his Associate of Science degree, graduating summa cum laude. Stewart then transferred to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, where he enjoyed participating in OSU Cowboy Motorsports and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biosystems Engineering.

After graduating, Stewart entered the workforce but soon decided to return to OSU for graduate studies, earning his Master of Science in Biosystems Engineering. He managed both his career and studies simultaneously – a decision that proved life-changing, not because of the degree, but because it was during this time that he met Ashley Clarke, the love of his life. Stewart’s successful career spanned multiple companies in the defense and oil and gas industries, where he led teams to success for over two decades.

Stewart and Ashley were married on September 27, 2003, and soon after that he completed his Ph.D. in Biosystems Engineering. Stewart often told Ashley that he knew she was the one he wanted to spend forever with after their second date. Their love story was one for the ages – faithful, sacrificial, and unwavering. Stewart was a devoted and adoring husband, and Ashley returned that love with everything she had, living out their vows daily in grace and care.

Stewart and Ashley welcomed two beautiful daughters into their family, Kinsleigh (15) and Ryleigh (13). Ashley often said that Stewart was meant to be a “girl daddy.” He invested wholeheartedly in his daughters, helping them engineer school projects, leaving them sweet notes or drawings to find in the morning, and cheering them on from the sidelines at their many activities. But above all, Stewart’s greatest priority was pointing his family to Jesus. He led family Bible studies, read and studied Scriptures daily, and always made time to answer the girls’ questions about their faith. During his illness, Stewart gave thanks to God for the extra time he had to be in the Word and to learn more each day about Jesus. He shared that having this unhurried time with the Lord was one of his life’s greatest gifts.

Stewart claimed Hebrews 11:1 as his life verse, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Stewart was a researcher by heart and a life learner, and the mysteries of things unknown this side of heaven have now been revealed. His faith is now sight.

Stewart was a friend to everyone. He was the first to offer help and found true joy in being surrounded by loved ones. He collected friends from every stage of life, and the common thread in all of his relationships was steadfast loyalty, honesty, and sincerity.

Stewart is survived by his wife, Ashley, and daughters, Kinsleigh and Ryleigh of Spring, TX; his mother, Brenda Reed of Coalgate, OK; father, Logan Reed of Coalgate, OK; sister, Becky Nelson, and her husband, Joe, of Milburn, OK; his father- and mother-in-law, Dave and Debi Clarke of Oklahoma City, OK; his sister-in-law, Amanda Panter, and husband, Brian, of Moore, OK; and his nieces and nephews, Sydni, Luke, Emri, Savanah, Logan Ray, Hallee, and Wyatt, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ross and Bessie Reed, James and Wanda Mowdy, and two uncles, Calvin Reed and Jim Reed.

A celebration of Stewart Reed’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at WoodsEdge Community Church Pavilion, 25333 Gosling Rd, Spring, Texas officiated by Pastor Jeff Wells. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a memorial fund created for Stewart’s two daughters (link below).

Stewart loved, and he was loved. He will be deeply missed, but we do not grieve like those without hope. We hold firm to the promise that those who believe in the risen Savior will be reunited one day in glory, and we thank the Lord for this blessed assurance.
