Sherry Houk Gee

April 25, 1946 — November 11, 2024

Sherry Houk Gee, formerly of Jamestown, Indiana, passed away on November 11th in Kingwood, Texas. Sherry was the daughter of Andrew K Houk, Sr and Georgia Cummings Houk. She grew up with her sister Patricia Houk Ermentraut and brother, Andrew Keith Houk, Jr in their family home in Jamestown, where her family had lived for 100 years.

Sherry was a 1964 grad of Granville Wells High School in Jamestown, after which she left for Texas. She received a BBA from the University of Houston. Over her life Sherry worked as a Facilities Manager, was a stay-at-home mom, and spent 20 years substitute teaching in Humble Independent School District.

After she arrived, Sherry made her home in Texas for the rest of her life, save for a six month stint in Thailand. That included 10 years in the Hurst/Forth Worth area and 50 years in the Kingwood/Houston area, where she had many friends.

Sherry married Thomas W. Gee in 1975 in Thailand during the Vietnam War, and again in 1985 in Kingwood, TX. They traveled the world, as she continued to do for all her life. She was known to say that she hadn’t missed a thing.

She is survived by her loving husband Thomas, her beloved sons Daniel A. Listi and Stephen W. Gee, and her wonderful grandchildren Emmaline, Georgia, Hayes, and Sidney Listi.

In addition to her parents, Sherry was preceded in death by her brother, Andrew Keith Houk, Jr.

Sherry will be laid to rest in the Houston National Cemetery, where her husband Thomas will one day join her. She will also have a headstone in the IOOF Cemetery in Jamestown, alongside three preceding generations of the Houk family. She is loved and will be missed.
