Russell Eldrak Smith

September 1, 1975 — October 5, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Russell Eldrak Smith, lovingly known as Rusty, who left us on October 5, 2025, at the age of 50. Born on September 1, 1975, Rusty was marked by his unwavering dedication to family and his infectious sense of humor, which brought joy to everyone around him.

A proud graduate of Orangefield High School in 1994, Rusty carried with him a spirit of determination and passion throughout his life. He often delighted in sharing dad jokes, his laughter and warmth resonating through every gathering. His outgoing nature made him a cherished companion, always quick with a kind word or a hearty laugh that brightened even the dullest of days.

Rusty had a special affection for his grandkids, Andrea, also known as "Monster", and Mateo, also known as "Ducky". The memories of the time spent together—whether it was playing games or simply sharing stories—are treasures that will forever remain in their hearts. Family was everything to Rusty, and he never missed an opportunity to express his love for them, ensuring they always knew how much they meant to him.

In addition to his family life, Rusty had a deep-rooted passion for all things related to Texas A&M and proudly supported the Aggies throughout his life. He poured his energy into his beloved truck, taking immense pride in the work he accomplished on it.

Rusty now joins his beloved grandparents, Lee Roy and Earline Russell, his mother, Carol Lee Smith, and his uncle, Charles Ray Russell, who welcomed him into the embrace of eternity. While he may have left this Earth, his memory and spirit will remain alive in the hearts of those who loved him.

Rusty is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Ramon, and his grandchildren, Andrea and Mateo Ramon. The love he shared and the memories he created will continue to resonate within his family, providing strength and comfort in the days to come. As we remember Rusty, let us honor his legacy by cherishing the moments we have with our own loved ones, just as he did throughout his life.
