Obituary

Richard Dean Heuer, born on May 24, 1959, passed away on September 2, 2026.

Rick will be remembered as an enthusiastic, positive, funny, and a genuinely friendly son, father, grandfather and friend whose presence brought warmth to the people around him. He built a career as a sales engineer in oil and gas flowmeters, working with Daniel, Emerson, ABB, and Sick. He also valued education and earned an associate degree in Electrical Engineering from Del Mar College.

Outside of work, Rick enjoyed fixing cars, baseball, playing guitars, and music in general. He found happiness in working with his hands and sharing time with family. One especially cherished memory was the six months of weekends he spent with his son Ben restoring an old Jeep YJ, while his grandson Colby watched from Ben’s garage. It was a time that reflected Rick’s love of family, his mechanical skill, and the joy he found in being together.

Rick is survived by his son, Benjamin Heuer (Nicole Heuer); his grandson, Colby Heuer; his mother, Adrienne Heuer; his sisters, Audrey Lewis (Kent Lewis) and Sue Rees (Jeff Rees); and his brother, Jeff Heuer. Rick was married to his high school love, Karen Morris Heuer, for 40 years. He also leaves behind the many family members and friends who will remember his humor, his energy, and the kindness he showed in everyday life.

He was preceded in death by his son, Chris Heuer, and by his father, Jackie Heuer.

Rick’s life was marked by hard work, good humor, and a genuine love for the people closest to him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Rick found immense joy in helping Karen as she volunteered for Houston Collie for over 20 years. He had such a kind heart for all the dogs they fostered. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his name to: Houston Collie Rescue, PO Box 526. Stafford, TX 77497-0526.                   Venmo and PayPal also accepted: houcollierescue@yahoo.com
