Paul C Rodriguez

September 28, 1938 — January 22, 2026

Paul “Popo” Rodriguez Sr., 87, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, in Houston, Texas.

Paul was born on September 28, 1938, in Austin, Texas, to Julian and Tomasa Rodriguez. As a young man, he cherished fishing trips with his father, and later, camping and fishing adventures with his family. Paul was a talented artist and cartoonist in his younger years, and he even considered attending the Art Institute of Houston after high school. His kids often asked him to draw things for them.

Paul also worked as a golf caddie in his younger years, and he loved both playing and watching golf. Known affectionately as “Crow” for his jet-black hair, the nickname suited him perfectly – even inspiring a crow tattoo. He truly loved ALL SPORTS and would amaze everyone with his recall of players, statistics, and history, even into his late 80s.

Crow devoted many years to providing for his family, working alongside his brothers, Cecil and Daniel Rodriguez, at a local freight company. Later, he became a dedicated groundskeeper for Aldine ISD, where he took pride in maintaining beautiful landscaping and was beloved by staff and students alike. He retired from AISD with a legacy of hard work and care.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Tristian; brothers, Cecil and Daniel Rodriguez; and his son, Paul Jr. Rodriguez and daughter, Simona Ann Campa.

Paul is survived by his sons, Julias Rodriguez (Lisa) and Micheal Rodriguez (Valerie); daughter-in-law Marissa Alvarez; beloved grandchildren Jason Rodriguez (Ashley), Krystal Gonzalez, Ashley Munoz (Rito), Joshua Rodriguez, Lizeth Ibarra, Jessica Ibarra, Jennifer Ibarra, Maria Ibarra, Nicholas Rodriguez, Haylee Ramirez, Melody Rodriguez, and Zachary Rodriguez; and great-grandchildren Vanessa Campa, Andrew Campa, Jacqueline Gonzalez, Ismeralda Gonzalez, Jade Rodriguez, Julissa Rodriguez, Gabriella Rodriguez, Jason Rodriguez Jr., Alexander Rodriguez, Adriannah Garcia, and Jace Martinez, his former wife and dear friend Olivia & Hermenegildo Gil, along with many other cherished cousins and extended family.

Popo had a great sense of humor, and he always made us laugh with his funny comments and observations. He was tough and resilient but also had a soft spot for his family and grandkids. He had a tender heart toward those who’d gone before him, remembering them fondly.

In later years, Paul’s family admired his commitment to clean living and his faith in God. He was a steadfast rock in the family, always cheering on his children and grandchildren and offering help whenever needed. His greatest joy was spending time with those he loved.

“Pops will be remembered always as a great man whose life story is full of love, laughs, and redemption. He always faced his challenges head on and taught his family and friends to do the same. He lived his life, enjoying every moment he could with his family until he was called home. Pops legacy survives through his family. The stories shared throughout his life will live on in our hearts forever.” – Micheal Rodriguez
