Nancy Chester Inberg

May 6, 1939 — June 26, 1925

Nancy Chester Inberg passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at the age of 86. She was born on May 6, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, to Dr. Nicholas G. Chester and Margaret Chester.

Nancy graduated from River Forest High School and went on to attend Culver-Stockton College and Drake University. A proud member of the Chi Omega sorority at both schools, she cherished the lifelong friendships and memories she made during those years.

Nancy had a spirited and adventurous nature that led her to her first job as a stewardess for American Airlines during the golden age of air travel. She loved sharing stories from her time in the skies and had the unique opportunity to meet many iconic figures, including John Wayne and Willie Mays.

While working at Lennox Awards in Chicago, Nancy met the love of her life, Elliot Inberg. They married and built a life full of love, laughter, and dedication. In the late 1970s, the family relocated to Texas, where Nancy took a position as a secretary with Lumberman’s Insurance Company.

In the early 1980s, Nancy moved to Owatonna, Minnesota, and dedicated herself to meaningful work with the crisis hotline. Later, she returned to Texas and began a long and distinguished career as a legal secretary with the State of Texas. She managed the file room for over 20 years, working closely with attorneys and earning numerous awards for her exceptional work ethic and service.

Nancy was known for her deep love of all things Texas A&M, her generous heart, and her talent in the kitchen. Her baked goods were legendary among friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Nicholas G. and Margaret Chester, her brother William Chester, and her beloved husband of 55 years, Elliot Inberg.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Peggy Lynn) Riley of Conroe, Texas; her grandchildren, Michael and Meredith, along with their children and grandchildren; and her son, Nicholas William Inberg of Cypress, Texas, his wife Michelle, and their children, Olivia, Nicholas, and Mia.

Nancy’s life was a beautiful blend of strength, grace, and service. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
