Lillie Martin was born 4/7/1937 in Canton, Mississippi to Ida Lee Wilson and Billy Houze. Lillie was the oldest of five siblings, two brothers, Prentis Wilson (preceded in death), Willie J. Houze (preceded in death) and three sisters, Verillian Wynn (Don) (Chicago, IL), Janis Wilson (Dallas, TX) and Billye Jean Bates (Carson, CA).
Lillie relocated to Chicago, where she met the love of her life, Issac Martin Sr (preceded in death). They were joined in holy matrimony in January 1960. Together, they raised five children: Kenney Jones (Sheila), Issac Jr. (preceded in death), Tahitia Deneen, Anthony (Jonette), and Bryant.
Lillie accepted Christ at an early age and attended Shiloah Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago, where she loved the Lord with all her heart. She worked various jobs until Issac Sr. retired her, allowing her to become a dedicated housewife. Many will always remember her smile, her laugh, and her love for her children.
Lillie was known throughout the neighborhood as the go-to babysitter. Many people would simply come to sit on her porch to talk and laugh with her family. Over the years, everyone kept in touch, sharing marriages and photos of their growing families.
After a lengthy illness, God called her home on Sunday, May 31st, 2026.
Lillie leaves to mourn her three sons, Kenney (Sheila), Anthony (Jonette), and Bryant; her loving daughter, Tahitia Deneen; fifteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
