Kathy Haydel (née Smith), aged 69, passed away on March 6, 2025, in Houston, Texas, following an extended battle with heart disease and diabetes.

Born on June 3, 1955, in Louisiana, Kathy led a life characterized by warmth and dedication, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. She shared a profound and enduring love with her husband, Whitney "Joe" Haydel, creating a family filled with love and treasured memories.

She is survived by her husband, Whitney "Joe" Haydel; her daughter, Britany Vinsant, and son-in-law, Matthew Stevens; her son, Whitney R. Haydel, and daughter-in-law, Nicole Haydel. As a devoted grandmother to Mason Vinsant, Parker Vinsant, Colton Haydel, and Owen Haydel, she experienced immense joy in their presence.

Kathy is also remembered fondly by her siblings: Jeffrey Smith and his wife Patricia Smith; Lester J. Smith Jr. and his wife Carolyn Smith; Susie Vickers; and Craig Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester J. Smith Sr. and Louise Smith, as well as her brother-in-law, Michael Vickers. Numerous nieces and nephews will also carry forward her memory with affection.

A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held on April 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Fordoche Community Center, located at 4261 Overton St., Fordoche, Louisiana, 70732.

Though she is no longer physically present, Kathy’s kindness and love will continue to illuminate the lives she touched. Her memory will remain a source of comfort for all fortunate enough to have known her.
