Juan Bautista Luna

Juan Bautista Luna, born on June 24, 1948, in the vibrant city of Ponce, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, in Houston, Texas. His life was one of courage, hard work, perseverance, deep familial love, and unshakeable dedication to those he held dear and those he helped along the way.

From his earliest days in Puerto Rico, Juan was shaped by the warmth of family. The second oldest of five children, he was the beloved son of Eduardo Luna and Luz Maria Brown. Surrounded by siblings and relatives, Juan’s childhood was filled with the gentle chaos and comfort of a close-knit family—experiences he would carry with him throughout his life.

In 1968, spurred by duty and honor, Juan entered the Army and served with distinction in Vietnam. His time in service marked him indelibly—it was not merely a chapter in his own story, but a selfless act that would forever be woven into the broader fabric of his family’s legacy. After returning from Vietnam, Juan set forth upon new adventures, seeking both solace and opportunity as he moved to Virginia.

It was in Virginia that Juan’s journey expanded: he met Yvonne, and they later married on December 20, 1970, and together they formed a partnership built on mutual support and unconditional embrace of chosen family and adopted their two daughters, Angela and Eveatta. In time they grew apart, but they continued to raises their daughters together though now differently. Then on September 27, 1978, Juan's joy deepened with the birth of his son, Justin. To Juan, fatherhood was both privilege and purpose—every moment with Angela, Eveatta, and Justin, every sacrifice made for their wellbeing, was approached with quiet pride, unwavering unconditional love, and dedication.

Juan’s path eventually led him to Oklahoma, and then to Houston, joining his oldest brother and deepening the roots of family once again. He took up work as a truck driver, dedicating many years to his profession until his well-earned retirement. His work was steady and reliable—a reflection of the man himself who found fulfillment in simple pleasures and in the company of loved ones, and even more so when he had his favorite cigar in hand. :)

In his passing, Juan leaves behind a family who will honor his memory: his son Justin; grandchildren, Noah and Jasmine; siblings: Ismael, Maria, and Eduardo; nephews and niece: Ismael, Jorge, Juan, Omar, and Mariaelena; great nephews and nieces: Bethany, Gabriela, Ariana, Aracely, Maliyah, Denise, Gianni, Jahsiel and Eddily; as well as many other relatives and countless friends. Each carries a part of Juan’s spirit with them and will remember him for his loyalty, kindness, and of course his incredible sense of humor.

Juan now reunites with those who passed before him: his parents; his grandparents, Emirigeldo and Elena; his brother, Wilfredo; his nephew, Jose Gabriel; and his aunt, Irene Luna. Oh what joy he must have felt as he transitioned on and able to embrace them once again in a long-awaited family reunion.

The family welcomes all who knew Juan to join in remembering and celebrating his life. Visitation will be held on July 15, 2026, from 10:00 to 12:00 PM at Houston Memorial Chapel, located at 14503 Bammel North Houston Rd Suite 405, Houston, TX 77014. A Celebration of his Life will follow at the same location from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.

Juan Bautista Luna’s legacy will live on in every story shared around a dinner table, every memory cherished at family gatherings, and in the hearts of all he touched with laughter and love. His presence endures—a comforting strength that will never fade...until we meet again!
