Joan Rita Hamann, 81, of Texas, formerly of Ixonia, Wisconsin, went to heaven on January 14, 2025. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Joan was known for her boundless love, infectious laughter, and the joy she brought to everyone around her.
Born on March 10, 1943, Joan grew up on a farm in Ixonia, Wisconsin, where her deep love for animals began. She carried that love with her throughout her life, cherishing her beloved dog, Girly, in her later years.
In 2009, Joan fulfilled a dream by moving to Texas to be closer to her daughters, Lynn (Tom) Beardslee and Teresa McMahon, and to embrace the warm weather, beaches, and vibrant plant life she adored. Her move followed the passing of four siblings and her cherished partner of nearly 20 years, Gordon. Texas became her sanctuary, where she thrived in the sunshine and created lasting memories with her family.
Joan is survived by her three daughters: Lynn (Tom) Beardslee, Teresa McMahon, and Sheila (Dan) Marschke; her grandchildren: Dustin, Misty, Ronald, Clayton, Alyssa, Amanda, Tiara, and Brad; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Ronald Kenney; her parents; four brothers; and one sister.
Her greatest legacy was her ability to see the best in people, believe in them, and make everyone feel special. Joan’s laughter lit up every room, and her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Joan’s life will be announced at a later date.
