Gilbert Cortez

Gilbert Cortez, 66, of Katy, TX., passed away on January 3, 2025. He was surrounded by family & friends.
He was born in Bakersfield, California on September 18, 1958. His childhood in Bakersfield instilled a lifelong passion for BBQ’s, oldies music, & baseball, and he loved to speak about it with anyone who would listen.
He leaves behind his wife, Juliana Cortez & children, Jessica Rodriguez & Jillana Cortez; grandchildren: Julian, Lillian, Josselyn, & Jaylynn. He was preceded in death by son, Gilbert Cortez Jr.
Gilbert was always there to help his friends and family with household projects, he retired from Lamkin Elementary after 39 years of service.
Gilbert will be honored in a private celebration of life at his home. The scattering of his ashes will occur afterward at the nearby location. He was directly cremated in line with his wishes shortly after death.
