Obituary

Gerry Lee Schelsteder, age 75, passed away on October 13, 2026. In keeping with her true South Texas roots, she was known as Gerry Lee to most, Momma to her children, Meemaw to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Sister to her siblings and Aunt to many related by blood and many that chose her as family.

Gerry Lee was a loving wife, caring mother, and wonderful grandmother and great grandmother. To her, family meant everything, and that was shown in her unconditional love for her children. Helping others came naturally to her, and that nature allowed her to welcome people with an open heart. She never judged anyone and had a heart so big she would give the shirt off her back to help someone in need.

She held her faith and love for Jesus close to her heart and that was always an important part of her life. She was wonderfully goofy, full of personality and almost always had a smile on her face. She enjoyed deer hunting with her husband and doing crafts that many of us were gifted and will forever cherish. She was able to find joy in these things she loved. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and laughter that made her special to everyone she knew; and although she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and love she gave will live on forever.

Gerry Lee is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, John Schelsteder; her children Michell Willis, Amanda Schelsteder, Johnny Schelsteder Jr, and Janie Witcher; and her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rest peacefully Gerry Lee. You are loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. May you rest in the loving arms of Jesus until we meet again.
