Eva Hughes
October 12, 1935 to November 10, 2025
Eva left this world peacefully, surrounded by her family at age ninety. She was born in Brownwood, Texas.
On October 17, 1956, Eva married Homer Hughes in Houston, Texas. Together they built a thriving business in the spirits industry and raised four daughters: Dorothy Hughes Bruce, Elizabeth Hughes Anthony, Amanda Hughes Curbo, and Brenda Hughes.
Eva poured her heart into caring for her family, and her devotion was felt most deeply by her grandchildren, whom she adored with all her heart. Their accomplishments, joys, and milestones were her greatest pride.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Hughes; her parents, Alfredo Deanda and Micaela Sauceda Cortez; her brother, Alfredo Deanda; and her beloved grandson, Robbie Bruce.
She is survived by her four daughters: Dorothy Bruce and husband Bob Bruce, Elizabeth Anthony, Amanda Curbo and husband David Curbo, and Brenda Hughes. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Travis Bruce, Erica Anthony, Evan Anthony, and Joyce Curbo, and one great grandchild, Stella Martinez Bruce.
She is additionally survived by her sisters Victoria Rivenbark, Janie Cortez, Maria Alvarado, Yolanda Correa, and Vera Lazure, and by her brother Jose Cortez.
Eva leaves behind a large extended family who cherished her deeply, including numerous nieces, nephews, Mike Hughes, Gary Hughes and Alan Hughes. Their lives were enriched by her warmth, generosity, and enduring love.
We celebrate her life, mourn her absence, and hold her in our hearts forever. A Mass will be said for Eva Hughes December 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Community Church, 19222 Tomball Parkway, Houston, Texas 77070. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery
