Ernest Kelly Pickle passed away on July 12, 2026, just shy of his 69th birthday, leaving behind a legacy marked by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering love for family and friends. Born on July 17, 1957, in Midland, Texas, Kelly’s journey through life was defined by meaningful relationships, rich experiences, and a spirit that touched all who knew him.

Kelly served his country with pride in the United States Air Force, embodying dedication and discipline early in his life. After his time in the military, he forged a professional path at UTMB, where he contributed his skills and steadfast work ethic while building life-long friendships along the way.

To those who had the pleasure of crossing Kelly’s path, it was instantly clear that he never met a stranger. His warmth and willingness to lend a helping hand were constants throughout his life. Whether it was offering support during difficult times or sharing in life’s celebrations, Kelly was the kind of person who made others feel valued and seen. His friendly spirit was as unforgettable as his infectious laughter and effortless charm.

Kelly found immense joy in being outdoors and pursuing hands-on passions. He loved hunting, the thrill and subtle art of riding and rebuilding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, growing his garden and canning food, and especially the memories made around a barbecue. These pastimes not only reflected his zest for life but also his desire to create lasting memories with those he cherished most.

Nothing was more important to Kelly than his family. He is survived by his beloved sister Jill George and Patti Colvin; his devoted son Casey Munnerlyn and his wife Meg; his treasured grandchildren Cooper and Lily; his beloved daughter Kelli Pickle Meleski and her husband Matt; and his cousins Edwin Pickle and Suzanne Lee. Plus many nephews, nieces, and cousins. He also leaves behind his precious dogs : Thunder and Lightning.Kelly’s deep love for his family shone through in every gathering, embrace, and story told, leaving them with a wealth of memories to hold close in their hearts.

Though Kelly’s earthly journey has come to an end, his generous nature and cheerful countenance have left an indelible mark on everyone privileged to know him. As loved ones mourn the profound loss of someone so kind and giving, they find comfort in recalling the many ways Kelly enriched their lives. And how his smile lit up every room he was in. 

He will be deeply missed, the Pickle Ponderosa will never be the same. .
