With deep sorrow and heartfelt remembrance, we announce the passing of Ellery Carl Jones on Father’s Day, June 21, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on March 3, 1955, Ellery was a cherished resident of Houston, Texas.

Ellery was the beloved son of the late L.C. Jones and Dorothy Hardy. Throughout his life, he was celebrated for his kind spirit and generous heart. His friendly nature drew people in, and he cherished the bonds he formed with family and friends.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Cheryl Phillips; his daughter, Nicole Phillips, who lovingly called him Papa Ellery; his son, Thaddeus Brown; his sister, Denise Fontenot; his brother; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends who held him in high regard.

Ellery’s greatest joy was his family, and he was known for his big heart and loving presence. His warmth and compassion left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.

His friendly nature drew people in, and he cherished the bonds he formed with family and friends.

Just before his passing, Papa Ellery shared that he had repented and sought forgiveness and peace, and his family takes comfort knowing he is now at rest in the presence of the Lord.

Though we are heavy-hearted, we find solace in the joyful memories he leaves behind and the love he so freely shared. His legacy of kindness, compassion, and devotion will continue to live on in those who knew and loved him.
