Constance Lee Knapp

Constance Lee Knapp, née Eggleston, passed away on September 13, 2026, in Katy, Texas. She was born on January 18, 1947, to John R. and Helen Eggleston and grew up in Southern California, where the foundations of a life marked by devotion, hard work, and deep love for family were first formed.

Connie attended Torrance High School and graduated in 1965. From a young age, she had a passion for journalism, and one of her proudest accomplishments was serving as editor of the school newspaper. That early love of writing and communication reflected the curiosity, intelligence, and dedication that would remain with her throughout her life.

In 1966, Connie gave birth to her daughter, Trevor. As a young single mother, she did everything in her power to provide Trevor with a safe, secure, and loving home. Later, she met Douglas Knapp, who became the love of her life. Connie and Doug were married in August of 1973, and together they built a warm and loving family. In September of 1977, they welcomed their son, Michael.

As her family grew, so did Connie’s commitment to education. She spent more than 30 years working in both public and private education, primarily with elementary school students. Through the decades, she led, taught, and mentored thousands of young people. Education was one of the great passions of her life, and she carried that calling with dedication and heart.

The year 1992 brought important changes and cherished milestones. Connie became a grandmother for the first time, a role that brought great joy to her life. That same year, she and her family moved from California to Katy, Texas, where she achieved her dream of making a home she truly loved. She spent the next 34 years shaping and perfecting that home, surrounding herself with the antiques she so dearly loved. Her love of antiques was one of the pleasures that gave her home its character and warmth.

Connie and Doug also shared a love of travel and time together. They enjoyed weekend trips to Lake Charles to visit the casinos and made occasional visits to Reno and Las Vegas to spend time with family and friends. Reno always held a special place in their hearts, as it was where they were married in 1973.

Above all, Connie will be remembered for the love she gave to those closest to her. She is survived by her daughter, Trevor Thorson, and her son, Michael Knapp. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Shane Thorson, Lindsey Costlow, and Lauren Mendoza, and her great-granddaughter, Lola Mendoza, each of whom carried a special place in her heart. Connie is also survived by her best friend of more than 70 years, Penny Koehler, a treasured and enduring presence in her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Douglas Knapp, and by her parents, John R. and Helen Eggleston.

Connie’s life was one of perseverance, devotion, and quiet strength. She created a loving family, touched countless young lives through education, and filled her home and years with care, purpose, and love. Her memory will be held close by all who knew her.
