Colby Scott Haines, known as Scotty to his friends and family, passed away on October 6, 2024, at the age of 58. Born in Keyser, West Virginia on June 15, 1966, Scotty was a man whose laughter and zest for life left a lasting mark on all who knew him. His final days were spent surrounded by loved ones in Waller, Texas, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Scotty, beloved son of Linda and William Haines, is survived by his three children: his eldest son, Trintion Tello; his middle child, daughter Caryian Strickland and husband Taylor Strickland; and his youngest son, Nicolas Haines. Each of them carries forward a piece of his legacy. His devoted girlfriend, Deanna Harvey-Sebren, stood by him through all of life’s ups and downs, their bond a true testament to enduring love and companionship. Scotty shared a wonderful life with his cherished siblings: his older brother Mark Haines and wife Lordes, his sister Kim Harris and husband Raymond, and his younger brother Galen Haines and wife Michelle. They treasured him not just as a brother but as a friend. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren: Violet, Luna, Ronnie, Chloe, and Arizona, along with many cousins, nephews, and nieces who will miss him deeply.
A graduate of the Microcomputer Technology Institute, Scotty's sharp mind and entrepreneurial spirit led him to a successful career in information technology. After honing his skills at Continental, he embarked on a new adventure, founding his own IT company, NERDS. His final business endeavor was with Houston Concrete Solutions, where he worked alongside his brother Mark. The decorative concrete creations they crafted were truly remarkable, showcasing both their skill and creativity. His business acumen and innovative thinking were matched only by his dedication and work ethic. Scotty's colleagues and employees admired him not only as a leader but also as a mentor and friend.
To say Scotty was active would be an understatement; he was a man who thrived on being busy and making the most of every moment. His enthusiasm for life was contagious, and he was often found at the heart of any gathering. An avid outdoorsman, Scotty relished the opportunity to go camping, fishing, or simply to fire up the grill for a barbecue with friends and family. His passion for golf was matched only by his love for karaoke, where his humor and love for music often stole the show.
Scotty’s adventurous spirit took him to many corners of the globe, and his captivating travel stories inspired others to embark on their own journeys. Whether it was traveling across the world to see his childhood best friend, Jeff Scott Soto, perform on tour, or hitchhiking across the country in their younger years, these experiences reflect his loyalty and love for adventure
Those who knew Scotty would describe him as funny, loving, and adventurous. His quick wit and infectious bursts of song, particularly “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me,” could light up any room. He was a devoted partner, a cherished brother, loving father, and a loyal friend, leaving a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
As we remember Scotty, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest. His legacy is one of joy, resilience, and an unyielding passion for life's journey. While we mourn his passing, we also take comfort in the knowledge that his spirit lives on in the memories we hold dear and in the stories that will be told for generations to come.
