Charles Lee Perkins, affectionately known as "Cotton," was born on November 19, 1953, in Galveston, Texas. He left this world on December 28, 2025, in Longview, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of loving memories and enduring family ties.

Charles's early life led him through Conroe High School, where he graduated in 1971, and he went on to further his education at the University of Texas. His dedication and passion for life were evident not only in his studies but also throughout his diverse career. He began his professional journey working for his grandfather-in-law at a tool and dye factory. This path eventually led him to travel extensively while selling insurance, followed by a notable tenure at Mossey Oldsmobile selling cars. Charles's unwavering ambition saw him rise to the position of General Sales Manager, and he later owned his own dealership, Penco Used Cars. After years of hard work, he retired due to health issues.

Charles proudly served in the United States Air Force from March 1973 to June 1977, an experience that shaped much of his character and values. He was a man of many interests, with a passion for fishing, traveling, and politics. His outgoing personality and witty charm endeared him to all who met him; he was known for never meeting a stranger. With an upbeat disposition, he often shared fond memories of family outings, whether it was bird hunting with his daughter or taking his son fishing, showcasing his deep love for family.

In his last two years, Charles demonstrated his unwavering devotion and care by ensuring that his beloved wife, Marilyn, was cherished and supported, allowing her the comfort she deserved during that time. His love for his children—Shawna Leigh Perkins, James Brandon Albright Perkins (JB), Jerry Lee Ogden, and Deborah Ruth Ogden—was marked by his unconditional affection, and he took great pride in their accomplishments.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Chelsea Bottoroff and her husband Zack, Jayleigh Alred, Reese Reeves, Cylus James Perkins, and Cecil Kenneth Babb and his wife Danielle, as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will carry forward his legacy.

Charles was preceded in death by several family members, including his birth father, James Francis Boyd; birth mother, Francis Lavon Boyd; adopted father, James Bannon Perkins; adopted mother, Prudence Baby Brown Perkins; brother, Frank Perkins; sister, Joan Boyd; first wife, Penny Bray Perkins; and sons, Lewis Eldred Ogden and Cecil DeWaine Ogden.

Charles Lee Perkins will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments but primarily for his loving spirit and the profound impact he made on all those fortunate enough to know him. His proudest accomplishment was undeniably his family, and the love and values he instilled in them will continue to shine brightly in their lives.
