Carolynn Block Reneau

Carolynn Block Reneau was born September 25, 1943, in Nederland, Texas, to Otis and Ida Belle Kennedy Block. Her grandparents were Charlie and Mollie Kennedy of McNeill, Mississippi, and W.T. and Sarah Block of Nederland, Texas. Carolynn passed away on October 29, 2026, at the age of 83, surrounded by her loving family.

Carolynn began her schooling at Nederland Elementary. After her family moved to their farm in Buna, she continued her education at Buna Elementary and Buna High School.

On June 3, 1961, Carolynn married Joseph Daniel Reneau. Together, they raised two sons, Joseph Kevin and Keith Daniel.

After raising her boys and being a homemaker for many years, Carolynn decided to pursue a career in nursing. In 1982, she graduated from Lamar School of Nursing as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and earned an Associate Degree in Chemical Dependency from Angelina College. She worked at Baptist Hospital and Beaumont Neurology as a chemical dependency nurse and counselor, working extensively with family groups. She also held family counselor positions at several facilities throughout Southeast Texas and worked with private clients.

Carolynn was an active member of First Methodist Church of Buna. She enjoyed the fellowship, church programs, and especially volunteering with Mustard Seeds. Her church family and the friendships she made there were an important part of her life.

In 1999, Carolynn received a successful liver transplant and was forever grateful for the gift of life from her donor, which allowed her to enjoy 27 more years with her family and friends. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and traveling with her parents.

Those who knew Carolynn knew she enjoyed the simple things in life, especially a good cup of coffee and a trip to the casino. She enjoyed visiting with people, spending time with family, and making memories along the way.

Carolynn will be remembered by her husband, Joseph "Danny"; her sons, Kevin and his wife, Lori, and Keith and his wife, Jennifer; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Kathy Eithel; and all the family and friends who were fortunate enough to know her. She lived a full life, loved her family, enjoyed her church, and spent many years helping others.

A Celebration of Life will be held November 21 at 11:00 a.m. at First Methodist Church of Buna. Family and friends are invited to come together to remember Carolynn and celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Liver Foundation or the Jasper Animal Shelter.

She will be missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
